DIY: How To Refinish Shutters

10:20 AM

Let's talk about how to paint shutters! This simple change can give a completely new and updated look to any house. I had imagined my red brick house with black shutters for a while now, and it was time to go for it!

Not to mention, I found THE PERFECT black paint! At first when we were spraying it on, we thought it looked navy blue / almost purple, but when it dried it was the most beautiful black paint color I had ever laid eyes on. We used a high quality exterior paint from Sherwin - Williams so we decided not to prime the surface. I also highly recommend you talk to someone at your local Sherwin - Williams; they are very knowledgable about refinishing with paint.

If after watching this video, you decide this DIY isn't for you, you can also buy black shutters on Amazon here.

We want to thank Sherwin - Williams for providing the paint to complete this project. Couldn't have done it without them!

Supplies:

Black Paint: Emerald Exterior Acrylic Latex in Tricorn Black in Satin from Sherwin - Williams.
Shutter Locks
Paint Sprayer - We rented ours from Sherwin - Williams.
Plastic Drop Cloth
Rubber Hammer
