  1. Hello ladies! My favorite Christmas tradition is or Nativity set! A few years back I searches and searched and searched for the same one that my mom and dad have. Finally....I found it and made one for my own kids to enjoy! It is a Nativity scene and each day the kids get to take one item from a pocket and add it to the scene. The last two days are always the star and then Baby Jesus. It is the best!

My favorite holiday tradition is all of the fun we have with our elf on the shelf. He does cute little things around the house to make my daughter a true believer...sure brings the magic to the season! I am now a follower on facebook and shared this great link on my facebook! 9. This is so beautiful.

I think the magic at Christmas time surpasses anything I know. My family struggled my whole life financially. I never really knew the extent until I got older and could really understand my parent's situation. My parents got divorced when I was 9 and my mom was, understandably, heartbroken. I remember being so little and being so sad that she was so sad. But I also remember, at Christmas time, that no matter how her heart hurt, she always put so much effort and love and time into decorating our house and most specifically our tree. She would put 1200 lights on it and always had the most beautiful ornaments and tree skirt and tree toppers.

Now that I am not home and off at school living in a different state and creating my own traditions, I know the magic and love I have for Christmas comes from her and her strength. I can always count on that beautiful tree to be sparkling in the living room window when I come home for the holidays just like I can always count on my mom to be there for me throughout the whole year. The tree. That is my favorite tradition because it stands for so much more than just a decoration.

  11. We have a gift box labeled "Gifts for Jesus," and every year we all write something on a piece of paper that we'd like to work on that year. It's nice to focus on the true meaning of Christmas. This tree skirt is GORGEOUS by the way!

  22. My favorite Christmas traditions are the ones I've started over the years. I started my first tradition when I asked for an ornament for every year, so by the time I was living on my own I'd have a tree full. I am keeping this tradition for my kids. Ialso started a tradition with my daughter where we will clean out our toy box every year and donate our gently used toys to kids who don't have any. We are also crafting homemade gifts for every family member to show that the true spirit of Christmas requires more than just money. It requires thoughtfulness.

  24. I already like you on FB. :) It's difficult to choose a favorite tradition but I've narrowed it down to 2. 1) On Christmas Eve the whole family puts on our PJs and slippers and loads up in the suburban and we ride around looking at Christmas lights. Some of us take hot chocolate along for the ride. It sounds so simple but we all love it. 2) We buy several small stuffed animals and go to a nursing home late on Christmas day. We ask the nurses to point out the residents who have had no visitors and we go to each of them, give them a gift and even sing carols if they'd like.

    ReplyDelete
  25. My favorite Christmas tradition is opening one gift on Christmas Eve - we all choose one gift to give a day early. It's always small - but meaningful. Now that we have a son I'm excited to carry on the tradition with him!

  26. Since my siblings, their spouses, and their kids live all over the country, my favorite Christmas tradition is when they all come home for the holidays and we commence with our Christmas Tree Cookie Assembly Line. We have been "putting" and "dobbing" since we were little to build up a 3-layered cookie that looks like a Christmas Tree. The feeling in the house when everyone comes together to make these cookies, makes it a little easier to bear not seeing them the rest of the year.

  27. My favorite Christmas tradition we have in our family is celebrating "Wisemen's Day." A Latin American tradition when the Wisemen came from afar to see the baby Jesus. We celebrate it on the 6th of January every year, and that is when we open our stockings! It makes the holiday cheer and gift giving last just a little bit longer and we love it!

    ReplyDelete
  28. My favorite Christmas tradition is our stockings on Christmas morning. We all have stockings my mom and I handmade the Christmas before I got married and continued to make as the family grew. Early on Christmas morning while we're still in our PJ's and before all of the chaos of the day starts we put a fire in the fireplace, turn on the tree lights and my husband hands everyone their stockings. They are always stuffed with goodies and silly gifts (jacks, mini coloring books, wind up toys, etc...) that we play with throughout the day. It's the time when we sit around and drink hot cocoa and laugh and visit before company and all the rest. Just intimate family time.

  44. Favorite Christmas tradition: It would have to be going downstairs after we've peeked inside our stockings. We "follow the star" (which happens to be our tree topper), like the wise men, to our tree where our gifts are, like when they found the greatest gift in seeing the Christ Child. It gives us a nice chance to go over the symbols of Christmas with our kids. It might be tedious to our young'uns, but I've been waiting to do this with my own little family since I was 11 years old!

  60. My favorite Christmas tradition is just being together as a family and I love watching the joy on everyone's faces as they open their gifts! And I also love our other family tradition of having our entire extended family get together a few days after Christmas through New Years and enjoy time together as we ring in the new year together!

    ReplyDelete
  61. My favorite tradition is the one gift the kids always got to open on Christmas Eve. And it was always new soft Christmas pj's that they would be wearing Christmas Morning for pictures. My parents did the same with us every year. Also when my kids (now 32 and 30) started asking about Santa they were told that when they stopped believing they would no longer get a gift from him....they both still claim to believe! :)

  62. I have shared your contest link on my FB page! Beautiful skirt -- hope I win!

Our favorite tradition is Santa's visit on Christmas Eve. We live far away from our families, so on Christmas Eve we get together with friends to eat, drink and be merry. We sing carols, and the kids sprinkle reindeer food outside. Finally, one grown-up or another suggests we read Christmas stories. The kids all gather round, the lights are dimmed and candles lit, and we start to read. The last book is always, "Twas the Night Before Christmas" and during it, our host slips away to dress as Santa. Before long, there is the jingle of sleigh bells, and Santa appears, in dim outline, against a window or door. The kids gasp with delight and rush to the spot, at which point "Santa" dashes away, only to appear at another window somewhere else in the house. Because it is dusk and they only see the flash of red and the silhouette of the suit, it seems much more real than the "fake" Santas they see everywhere else. One of the kids usually starts to get agitated because "Santa is in the neighbourhood and we are not asleep", and then it's a mad rush for home. Absolutely darling, and a great way to get the kids in bed early on Christmas Eve! Our good friends and neighbours began this tradition (which was a tradition for them as children, as well) a few years ago, and although by now our kids may be growing out of any real belief in Santa, I think they will continue to enjoy this tradition for many years to come.

  63. You both are so talented & inspiring! So glad I found your blog! Our favorite Christmas tradition for the adults are Brandy slushies that my sister- in- law has been making for years! :) so good!
And for the kids; big batches of soup, corn bread muffins & family game night for long extended hours either Christmas Eve or Christmas Day! We also have started making our own ornaments for family & the kids are so creative! Happy Holidays to you all!

  64. My husband and I are still coming up with traditions to share with our toddler, but one Christmas tradition I absolutely love is baking. I love making pies, cookies, and other treats, as well as giving them away so I don't gain 50 lbs by New Year's. Even two years ago when I was 9 months pregnant on Christmas Eve, I still baked two pies for a family get-together. Thanks for hosting the giveaway! :o)

    ReplyDelete
  65. Since I already own a tree skirt, I am not entering the contest... but I couldn't help but add my tradition to the list:
My favorite Christmas tradition growing up happened on Christmas Eve. Before Christmas Eve the only presents that went under the tree were the ones to the whole family from friends and relatives. My parents, siblings, and I would hold ours back in our own secret hiding places. (My Mom started this so that us kids would not get into the presents until Christmas morning.) Then on Christmas Eve night we gather together for a special family night. We each take turns bringing our presents in and placing them under the tree. It is always so much fun to see the present pile growing. Then the next morning it is magically bigger from Santa's presents.

  68. Hi y'all! I'm a writer myself (however much more crafty with the pen and paper than with a needle and thread) and I have been in search for THE perfect tree skirt. I've posted about it on my own blog and several readers had suggested making one and other random ideas from tablecloths to sweet ladies willing to give me one lol, but when I ran across this one on Pinterest I fell in love! It's so perfect. Thus I'm entering to win with the grand hope I do instead of trying to figure out what a "basting" stitch is myself. :)

My favorite Christmas tradition (well, one of many) is that on THANKSGIVING, all of the women in my family make all of the other women some sort of Christmas decoration and we all exchange them that day. It's such a fun start to the Christmas decorating season. And my grandmother always gives us a Lenox ornament as her gift, and this year it was super special with a side of difficult as she was just diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. Hard stuff, but a tradition we will always continue in her honor. :)

Thanks for sharing your brilliance with us ladies, and if I'm the winner, you better bet I'll be sharing your genius with all of my people. Merry merry to you both! :)

  72. My family always has a Christmas decorating day, we would set out snack foods and listen to Christmas music, while setting up the tree, lights, and the snowmen. That night we always watch a Christmas movie together. It is a great time and is a tradition I will continue with my own family. :)

One year my parents decided that we could open one present on Christmas Eve Morning. It was a family game. This started a long tradition of opening a new family game each Christmas eve and spending the entire day as a family playing games, and eating yummy Christmas goodies.
