DIY Turban-Like Headband

8:46 AM

I saw a cute mom at the grocery store wearing one of these. After looking on Pinterest for some inspiration, I came up with my own version of this cute turban headband. It's chunkier looking on the top of the head and skinny around the base of the head.

Grab some stretchy jersey knit fabric. Fold it in half. At the fold, measure 8" across. Mark with a pin at each end and in the center. (The picture measurements are off because I made an extra wide one at first and didn't like it. 8" wide is best.)

Measure around your head where the headband will lay. Mine is 21", then you minus 1" because this fabric stretches and you want it to fit you snug, so my measurement is 20". Find the center pin and measure down half of your measurement, mine is 10".

You want the bottom of the headband to measure 5" wide, so at the bottom center mark, line it up with 2.5" line on your measuring stick. Mark each end with a pin, one at 0 and one at 5.

Now you can line up the side pins and cut out the headband.

Unfold it.

Fold it over hot dog style.

Zig-zag stitch along the side.

Pull it right side out.

Cut out a 2" x 2" square.

Sew it right sides together down one side. Then, pull it right side out.

Place it over one end of the headband.

Sew the ends of the headband together.

Pull the small fabric over the seam.
