DIY: Potty Train Chart

9:34 AM

The other day my 2.5 year old son said to me, "Maybe Santa will bring me a potty train for Christmas." I didn't understand what he meant, until later that day he mentioned that he wanted a potty train and big boy underwear. The whole time I had been talking about being potty trained his little mind thought of an actual Potty Train. He is so dang hilarious!

And so I was inspired by my little man, and came up with this potty chart.

The train actaully moves with the help of a magnet on the back of the poster and on the actual wooden train.
When he goes potty he can move the train on the track, earn a sticker and earn a little piece of candy. Yea, I am serious about this and totally pulling out all the stops!
Each time he goes potty he will put a sticker to put on the track. Once the entire track is filled we will take him on the local city Trax train as a reward.

I have stocked up on juice and other fun drinks. Every hour on the hour my phone's timer makes a choo choo sound and we head for the potty. While we are there we read books and watch potty movies on my iphone.

Please oh please let this work!!! Wish me luck!

  3. Looks like you've got it all covered! It's so hard, but one thing that helped Jack (we'll see with Emma) was having a small standing potty in our main room so when he had to go (which was that very second) he could make it to the little potty. He progressively got better. GOOD LUCK!

  8. i realize you might not remember since it looks like you did this several years ago but, do you remember how long you had him on the potty every hour before deciding to take a break and try again later when he didn't go? once my daughter gets on the potty, she'll sit there all day playing games and watching videos if i don't make her get up! lol

  9. We started getting used to the potty at 18 months. We bought a potty seat and showed my son how it sat on the toliet and we let him sit on it while it was on the floor. The first couple of time that my son sat on it while it was on the potty he got a reward, but then we told him that he has to go pee on the potty like Mommy and Daddy. Now that he is two, we try to sit on the potty everynight and when he goes he gets a reward. We had a slight backwards slide when we moved in to our new house, but I expected it. I did buy him some big boy underwear to wear aroung the house, if he pees in them he knows what it feels like to be wet, as opposed to his diaper. We just take it day by day.

    Potty training daily
